Experience your first breath underwater

The SSI Try Scuba program gives you the chance to experience scuba diving for the very first time in a safe, controlled pool environment under the direct supervision of a certified SSI instructor. You will learn how to use basic equipment, clear your mask, and breathe comfortably underwater — all with zero prior experience required. It is the perfect way to discover whether scuba diving is right for you before committing to a full certification course.

  • Minimum age: 10 years
  • Setting: Pool / confined water
  • Duration: approx. 2–3 hours
  • Prerequisites: None

Entry-Level Certification

Basic Diver

Your first official SSI scuba certification

The SSI Basic Diver course is your entry point into the world of certified scuba diving. You will complete confined water training sessions followed by open water dives, covering essential skills including equipment assembly, buoyancy control, underwater navigation, and emergency procedures. Upon completion you earn the SSI Basic Diver certification, which qualifies you to dive to 12 meters with a buddy who holds the same or higher certification.

  • Minimum age: 10 years
  • Maximum depth: 12 m (40 ft)
  • Duration: 1–2 days
  • Prerequisites: Ability to swim
